Uganda Group Tour itinerary:

Day 1: Drive to Murchison Falls / Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Your tour of Uganda's wild side begins with a morning drive north to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop to view Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and at Masindi for lunch arriving at your lodge later in the afternoon visiting the top of the falls on your to your accommodation.

Day 2: Game Drives / Launch cruise on River Nile

After breakfast you will go for an early morning game drive on the rolling plains where you can view lions, giraffe, hartebeest, Buffalo and elephant as well many other mammals of the park. For the birders, this area supports the secretary bird, black-chested snake eagle, tawny and marshal eagles and many others. This is a beautiful drive across the African savannah down to Lake Albert, where the Albert Nile heads north to Sudan.

Take an afternoon boat trip to the bottom of Murchison Falls. This launch trip is for about three hours. This is an experience not to be missed! The launch trip gives you a chance to get up close with Nile hippos and to see the huge Nile crocodiles and other wildlife that may come down to drink from the river.

Day 3: Drive from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest

Early breakfast, cross the Nile River by ferry, game drive to the top of Murchison falls where you can have a closer look into the gorge where the Nile squeezes in to a 7 meter gorge dropping 40 meters. The falls are spectacular and thunderous with a beautiful rainbow displayed on sunny days. Later, drive through beautiful agricultural countryside where every type of fruit and vegetable imaginable is grown.

Upon reaching Kyenjojo, in the lower foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, you drive through beautiful tea plantations and into Kibale tropical rainforest. Here in the Kibale Forest, chimps and other primates now comfortably accept the presence of humans in their habitat.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking -Queen Elizabeth

In the morning you will have breakfast then transfer to Kibale Forest Head quarters for briefing before setting off for a forest walk in search for chimpanzees. The chimpanzee trekking in the forest will be guided to provide information not only on chimpanzees and primates but also on small organisms making it interesting. The walk will reward you with other primates like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys, phoestes, and butterflies.

After Chimpanzee trekking return to the lodge for lunch then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park, sightseeing and game viewing enroute. Evening launch cruise on the Kazinga channel where you will get upclose with Hippos and other wildlife that come to drink by the lakes edge.

Day 5 : Drive from Queen Elizabeth Game park to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Today’s drive is through what is probably East Africa’s most spectacular scenery, the highland rain forests which reach to the volcanoes in which live the mountain gorillas. Make a game drive at Ishasha on your way to Bwindi in search of the tree climbing lions. Later, drive to Bwindi Forest via the beautiful scenery of the tea plantations. This is the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds.

Day 6: Bwindi Gorilla trekking

Early breakfast before going to the park headquarters for a briefing from the ranger guides on the gorilla tracking do's and donts. You will be accompanied on your gorilla trekking by experienced guides through the thick forest, through the gorilla trek paths in the thick Bwindi Impenetrable rain forest searching for the giant mountain Gorillas. Once the mountain gorillas are found you will have 1 hour of regulated time to view these beautiful primates plus taking photographs. Take a picnic lunch and at least 2 litres of water with you.

After the gorilla trek, return to the lodge to reminensce on Gorilla Trekking experience. Optional activity if the gorilla trek ends early is the communitiy walk. Accommodation options: Engagi Lodge / Silverback Lodge

Day 7: Drive from Bwindi Forest to Lake Mburo National Park

Following breakfast proceed to Lake Mburo national Park, home to the impalas which are small antelopes mainly concentrated around Lake Mburo of all the national Parks in Uganda. Actually the capital city of Uganda – Kampala was named after this stunning small animal. Along the way you will be able to see the spectacular Kigezi highlands plus some other uncultivated scenery and the long-horned Ankole cow.

On arrival in the park, you will have a game drive to see some other wildlife in Uganda besides the gorillas you saw in Bwindi and among these will be: zebras, warthogs, buffaloes, klipspringers, elands, oribi as well as waterbucks.

Day 8: Departure

View game as you leave the camp for Kampala, pass through the town of Masaka near the shores of Lake Victoria, then continue through huge papyrus swamps, fragmented rainforest, with a stop at the equator and Mpigi Royal drum makers and witness how drums have been made in Uganda for centuries.

Long before the coming of the Europeans, the Buganda people had a highly structured society and drums were used extensively for long distance and rapid communications. Continue on to Entebbe International airport to connect with your international flight out

Our scheduled tours requires a deposit of of US$800 per person in order to secure the included gorilla permit. We also require full passport details at time of booking. The additional deposit paid at time of booking will be credited to the final balance of your booking.
Gorilla permits in all parks are on a very high demand and we advise that you book them as early as possible.
Clients who desire to to be accommodated in single rooms, a single supplement is available.
Accommodation on this tour will have private bathrooms.
Depending on the group of gorillas you will be tracking we will choose where to sleep in Bwindi. There are 4 areas for Gorilla tracking in Bwindi: Buhoma, Ruhija and Nkuringo and Rushaga.
Some lodges may ask for seasonal surcharges for the Easter and Christmas Holidays.

Please note that to track the gorillas you must be 15 years or older (prior to start of travel) - there are no exceptions to this as it is for safety reasons and strictly controlled by the Government.
Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking takes place in humid rain forests, steep terrain and high altitude, you therefore need to be in excellent physical condition, without any heart problems and prepared to spend a strenuous day trekking for chimpanzee and gorillas, as well as other primates.
