Track gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda itinerary:

Day 1: Arrive Kigali
On arrival at the airport you will transfer to Kigali where you will be briefed about your safari. Following lunch, leave for Parc National des Volcans driving to the north will take you through the stunning terraced hillsides which characterize most of Rwanda’s terrain, gradually ascending to the foothills of the amazing Virunga volcanoes, and in fact you may be able to see 5 volcano peaks.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Rwanda
Set out gorilla trekking in the Parc National des Volcans (based on the availability of the trekking permit at the time of making your booking). Track the mountain gorillas through the light forested mountain slopes of the stunning Virungas is a thrilling experience. When you eventually meet the gorillas, you will allowed an hour with them, seeing them feed, play and look for their young ones. From here you will return for a late lunch at your lodge. Important to note is that some gorilla families are hard to find the gorilla trekking may last the entire day especially during the rainy months as the paths are quite muddy.

Day 3 :Golden Monkey trekking experience
Today you will Visit the beautiful golden monkeys (at an extra fee payable at the time of booking) or opt to drive directly to Gisenyi, or visit Ross Carr’s orphanage as well as Lake Kivu, or walk to Lake Bulera, or hike the Bisoke or Muhabura volcanoes, or alternatively visit one of the local schools and the local community projects.

Day 4: Trek Dian Fossey’s visit and transfer to Uganda - Bwindi Forest
After breakfast you may choose to relax at the lodge, take a walk around or walk to Dian Fossey’s grave (these activities are optional therefore not included in the quote price). In the afternoon after your lunch you will head to Uganda - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest for a different gorilla tracking experience.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking in Uganda
Today you will track the mountain gorillas again, but this time this will be in Bwindi and later in the day you will take a nature walk in case you still have some energy.

Day 6: Lake Mburo National Park
After an early breakfast you will drive to Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo is an attractive park which is worth visiting; home to zebras plus other mammals. You will reach the park, check into our lodge and afterwards have lunch. Later in the afternoon, you will have a boat ride on the lake. You will have an opportunity to see big numbers of hippos playing in the water, crocodiles, plus buffaloes, Elands, zebras, Impalas and antelopes enjoy the vegetation in addition to birds of all types as they sing up in the trees. This will reward you with an opportunity to take photos of this beautiful countryside. Head back to the lodge for dinner and the night’s rest.

Day 7: Departure
After breakfast you will go for your final morning game drive as you go through and drive past the lakes. You will observe various animals plus birds staying in the umbrella acacia trees. You will stopover at the Uganda Equator to take some photos pictures and visit the craft shops and Buganda drum makers to purchase souvenirs you will reach Kampala in the late afternoon, and in case your flight is today we will transfer you to Entebbe airport, else, another night can be arranged for you in Entebbe

Notes
  • Our scheduled tours requires a deposit of of US$800 per person in order to secure the included gorilla permit. We also require full passport details at time of booking. The additional deposit paid at time of booking will be credited to the final balance of your booking.
  • Gorilla permits in all parks are on a very high demand and we advise that you book them as early as possible.
  • Clients who desire to to be accommodated in single rooms, a single supplement is available.
  • Accommodation on this tour will have private bathrooms.
  • Depending on the group of gorillas you will be tracking we will choose where to sleep in Bwindi. There are 4 areas for Gorilla tracking in Bwindi: Buhoma, Ruhija and Nkuringo and Rushaga.
  • Some lodges may ask for seasonal surcharges for the Easter and Christmas Holidays.
  • Optional activities are available, please talk to us at the time of booking.
  • Please do not book any flights until after 2pm on the departure day.
  • The itinerary is a general guide to the tour and region and any mention of specific destinations or wildlife is by no means a guarantee that they will be encountered.
  • Please note that to track the gorillas you must be 15 years or older (prior to start of travel) - there are no exceptions to this as it is for safety reasons and strictly controlled by the Government.
  • Gorilla trekking and chimpanzee tracking takes place in humid rain forests, steep terrain and high altitude, you therefore need to be in excellent physical condition, without any heart problems and prepared to spend a strenuous day trekking for chimpanzee and gorillas, as well as other primates.
  • Internal scheduled flight Luggage restriction of 15 kgs per person in soft bags only.
  • You will need some extra money to cover meals and drinks not included in the tour price, any optional sightseeing, souvenirs and items of a personal nature such as laundry.
