Buhoma Community Rest Camp

Buhoma Community Rest Camp - Bwindi Forest

Located before the entrance to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Buhoma Community Rest Camp gives outdoor enthusiasts a taste of safari-style living and is an excellent base camp for Gorilla trekking as well as observing the many endemic bird species that inhabit the region.

This pleasant and well-kept camp provides guests several lodging options such as bandas, self-contained safari tents, dormitory style accommodations, and leveled terraces for those with camping equipment.  The camp also has an open-fronted restaurant where guests can enjoy exceptional views of the magnificent forest canopy while dining on delicious meals prepared by our local chefs using locally grown produce.  There is also a fully stocked bar adjoining the restaurant for those individuals who want to relax and unwind.

While Buhoma Community Rest Camp hosts many gorilla trekking enthusiasts, there are a variety of other reasons to remain in Bwindi. Our guided Community Village Walk is an excellent way to meet the locals and learn traditional ways of life; including that of the Batwa people.  Guests can also venture into the forest for a guided waterfall hike or choose the bird hike to observe and hear the many colorful birds in the area. One can also partake in a day of mountain biking in the forest for we provide mountain bikes for the riding enthusiast.

Safari Destinations

Zanzibar Beach

Just like Tanzania, Zanzibar is three hours in the advance of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). It doesn't operate daylight saving time, and consequently there's no time difference between Zanzibar's summer and winter months.

Discover Uganda

Uganda is a truly “authentic” safari destination - definitely less sophisticated than Tanzania or Kenya in terms of infrastructure and not in the same “big game” league, but equally untouched and as genuine as Africa gets.
Uganda’s gorillas, chimps, birds and the wider range of special-interest attractions (from butterflies to orchids) makes it a perfect match for first timers and seasoned African visitors alike.

Visit Tanzania

Tanzania home to Africa's most dramatic and famous features.  Fantastic wildlife, stunning scenery and idyllic beaches Tanzania is virtually unrivalled in terms of wildlife population and diversity. From the biggest African plains, the Serengeti, to the highest African mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, to the deepest African Lake Tanganyika.
Pemba offers classic tropical beaches to those wanting to get away from the crowds, whilst the Selous Game Reserve never disappoints those looking for lion and elephant!
