Lewa Downs Kenya Safari Extension

Day 1: Lewa Downs
Fly to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.

Days 2 & 3: Lewa Downs
These 2 days will be spent in Lewa Downs, located in north-central Kenya at the foot of Mt. Kenya, a private wildlife reserve in the country. Once a cattle ranch, the land was transformed into a heavily guarded black rhino sanctuary and is now the headquarters of a wildlife conservancy that has gained a worldwide reputation for its pioneering efforts. Lewa’s 54,000-plus acres are dominated by open grasslands and gentle hills, with stands of mature acacia forest and papyrus swamp, all of which provides a home to a wide range and quantity of wildlife. Besides the commons like elephant, Cape buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe and a host of bird life, endangered species such as Grevy's zebra, black and white rhino, and sitatunga also thrive in the region.

Lewa Wilderness Lodge was once the Craig family homestead, where travelers have been welcomed for more than 30 years. Nine beautifully decorated cottages, all featuring fireplaces and verandas, can accommodate a maximum of 18 guests. Guests are welcome to relax in the sitting area and to enjoy shared meals around a banquet table in the open-air dining room. A saltwater pool is available to cool off during the heat of the day.

There are various activities to choose from, from day and night wildlife drives, bush walks and hikes with Masai tribesmen, horseback and camel rides, visits to a nearby archaeological site, farm and craft tours, and even tennis. Extended walking safaris and fishing excursions can also be arranged. Scenic flights can be arranged in the classic yellow, open-cockpit biplane at additional cost.

Day 4: Nairobi - Departure
Today we fly back to Nairobi, where dayrooms have been arranged for you before transferring to the international airport for our departure flight out.

Safari Destinations

Zanzibar Beach

Just like Tanzania, Zanzibar is three hours in the advance of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). It doesn't operate daylight saving time, and consequently there's no time difference between Zanzibar's summer and winter months.

Discover Uganda

Uganda is a truly “authentic” safari destination - definitely less sophisticated than Tanzania or Kenya in terms of infrastructure and not in the same “big game” league, but equally untouched and as genuine as Africa gets.
Uganda’s gorillas, chimps, birds and the wider range of special-interest attractions (from butterflies to orchids) makes it a perfect match for first timers and seasoned African visitors alike.

Visit Tanzania

Tanzania home to Africa's most dramatic and famous features.  Fantastic wildlife, stunning scenery and idyllic beaches Tanzania is virtually unrivalled in terms of wildlife population and diversity. From the biggest African plains, the Serengeti, to the highest African mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, to the deepest African Lake Tanganyika.
Pemba offers classic tropical beaches to those wanting to get away from the crowds, whilst the Selous Game Reserve never disappoints those looking for lion and elephant!
