Rwanda safari - Primates itinerary:

Day 01: Drive to Ruhengeri – Kiningi
Leave Kigali City and drive north for Ruhengeri town.  This journey goes through the beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize much of Rwanda’s landscapes. Sometimes if the weather is clear, the five peaks of the Virunga volcanoes can be clearly viewed.
Dinner and overnight Mt Gorilla View Lodge.

Day 02: Gorilla Tracking
After breakfast you will transfer to the start point for the gorilla trek where you will be briefed by professional park rangers about the Gorillas and start tracking in Parc National des Volcans. Tracking the gorillas through the light mountain forest on the slopes of the Virungas is a magical experience. Other primates are habitat too in the same forest and can be seen jumping on trees. Gorilla trekking can take from 1 hr upto 8 hrs depending on the location.  Once located you are allowed 1 hr with them.  Please carry a picnic lunch and drinking water with you.  Return to your lodge.

Day 03: Diane Fossey Research Centre visit
After breakfast, Hike to the famous Diane Fossey Research Center to learn about the works of this amazing woman in habituating, studying and conserving the endangered Mountain Gorillas in this country.  Return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04: Nyungwe Forest
Early morning departure for NyungweForest ,the journey is through beautiful terraced hillsides that characterize this country.

Day 05: Chimpanzee Trek
Get up early morning into the Nyungwe Forest, the largest block of montane forest in East and Central Africa. It is an incredibly rich area of biodiversity too, but the reason for your visit today is the Chimpanzees and other primates like grey checked mangabeys, golden monkeys. Blue monkeys, Angolan colobus, L’hoest monkeys, owl faced monkeys and many others. In the after noon, take a nature walk around the park for birds, butterflies and other primates.

Day 6: Butare -Kigali City Tour – Departure
After breakfast, leave the ever green forest for Kigali with a tour of the Genocide,the famous  National Museum at Butare, the ancient King’s Palace at Nyanza,  or After lunch, proceed to Kigali city, later transfer to Airport for your departure flight.
Meal plan: Breakfast and Lunch.
