The Samburu Serena Safari Lodge

The Samburu Serena Safari Lodge - Visit Kenya, Samburu accommodation

The Samburu Serena Safari Lodge is set in a landscape of endless skies, dust-red plains and palm-fringed rivers, this rustic lodge is renowned for the timeless beauty of its landscape and the serene tranquility of its setting. Nestled amidst the acacia groves that border the crocodile-filled reaches of the Uaso Nyiro River, the lodge stands centre-stage to miles of lion-stalked grasslands, elephant-studded plains and wildlife-teeming bush. It is also ideally placed for visits to the neighboring parks of Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserve.

The long, low lying buildings of the lodge blend seamlessly into the soft green of the acacia woodlands lining the banks of the Uaso Nyiro River. The Rooms' interior reflects a strong ‘khaki and canvas’ safari influence enriched by a vibrant selection of age-old Samburu masks, spears and ceremonial treasures. Each room is accommodated in a prettily shingled timber cottage with its own blossomed veranda looking out over the river.

The breeze-cooled bar and dining area overlooks the flood-lit expanses of the river and game viewing arena where lumbering herds of elephant gather nightly and shy leopards are lured to the forked branch of an acacia tree where a haunch of meat has been laid out for them.

The activities on offer at Samburu Serena Safari Lodge include: nature walks, bird watching and game drives; The option of a magical, moon-lit, bush dinner looking out over the meandering reaches of the Uaso Nyiro River; Samburu-guided camel treks across the shimmering scrub-desert to a nearby vantage point offering panoramic views; ‘Sundowners’ around the campfire or watching as the elephant gather by the river.

Day trips to the neighboring reserves of Buffalo Springs and Shaba National Reserve.

Safari Destinations

Zanzibar Beach

Just like Tanzania, Zanzibar is three hours in the advance of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT+3). It doesn't operate daylight saving time, and consequently there's no time difference between Zanzibar's summer and winter months.

Discover Uganda

Uganda is a truly “authentic” safari destination - definitely less sophisticated than Tanzania or Kenya in terms of infrastructure and not in the same “big game” league, but equally untouched and as genuine as Africa gets.
Uganda’s gorillas, chimps, birds and the wider range of special-interest attractions (from butterflies to orchids) makes it a perfect match for first timers and seasoned African visitors alike.

Visit Tanzania

Tanzania home to Africa's most dramatic and famous features.  Fantastic wildlife, stunning scenery and idyllic beaches Tanzania is virtually unrivalled in terms of wildlife population and diversity. From the biggest African plains, the Serengeti, to the highest African mountain, Mt Kilimanjaro, to the deepest African Lake Tanganyika.
Pemba offers classic tropical beaches to those wanting to get away from the crowds, whilst the Selous Game Reserve never disappoints those looking for lion and elephant!
