Primates of Africa itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival
You will be met at the airport by our driver guide and transferred from Entebbe international airport to your Hotel in Entebbe, Overnight Lake Victoria Hotel

Day 2: Ngamba Island Visit
This morning you will transfer to the jetty for your boat ride to Ngamba Island for chimpanzee viewing. You will reach in time to watch chimps feed. In the afternoon you will go for a forest walk on the island and then transfer back to Entebbe for overnight.  Overnight Lake Victoria Hotel

Day 3: Road transfer to Kibale Forest (approximately 6 hrs drive)
Have breakfast and then transfer to Kibale National park. A park known to have the largest number of primates in Africa, you will reach in time for a late lunch.  In the afternoon, you will go for a walk in the Bigodi Wetland sanctuary. The sanctuary is composed of picturesque flora and fauna that is spectacular.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest
Have an early breakfast and then head to the pack headquarters for briefing before you embark on your chimpanzee and other primates trek.  This will take you half day.  After lunch, go for a village walk where you have a chance to learn how the Batoro and Bakiga communities live.

Day 5: Drive to Queen Elizabeth, take a Boat Cruise on Kazinga channel
Have breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will reach in the after noon, check in at your lodge, and have lunch.  In the afternoon there will be a launch trip on the Kazinga Channel.  This trip will reward you with game like hippos, buffaloes and elephants at the shores with plenty of birds.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trek /Wildlife Safari
After very early breakfast you will drive to Kyambura Gorge, driving through a grassland area, all of a sudden you will come across an amazing gorge of one hundred meters deep, covered with tropical rainforest. You will hike into the gorge of the Kyambura River in search of the wild chimpanzees. It is a beautiful walk through the river valley, home to many birds and butterfly species as well.  In the evening there will a game drive in the Kasenyi area.

Day 7: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Today you will drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Ishasha sector where if you are lucky you will watch the tree climbing Lions en-route. You will arrive at your lodge for a late lunch.  In the afternoon participate in a village walk.

Meals included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 8: Uganda Gorilla tracking day!
Go for briefing at the park headquarters after breakfast and head to the forest for Gorilla trekking. The time spent in looking for these apes, ranges between 2- 8 hours depending on their movements. However the thrill of encountering the gorillas will erase the strain you went through in trying to find them.

Day 09: Drive to Rwanda – Ruhengeri
After an early break fast transfer to Rwanda drive through Kisoro and the Volcanoes Park sceneries to cross the border to Rwanda.   You will arrive at your lodge late in the afternoon.

Day 10: Rwanda Gorilla tracking day!
After breakfast you will be transferred to Volcanoes park to go trek the Dian Fossey Mountain Gorillas after briefing at the park head quarters. The Gorilla trek can take anything between 2 – 8 hours.  After the trek return to your lodge for the overnight

Day 11:  The beach of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi `
After breakfast, check out of Ruhengeri and drive to Gisenyi, a beautiful town located on the shores of Lake Kivu, which is the main water body of Rwanda, relax on the beach. Overnight Serena Kivu Hotel

Day 12: Nyungwe Forest
After breakfast transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. The road is panoramic along the Lake.  Lunch in Kibuye, arrive in Nyungwe National Park in time for dinner. Optional: leave Gisenyi on boat to reach Kibuye for lunch, enjoy the navigation.

Day 13: Primate Watch Nyungwe Forest National Park
After an early breakfast you enter Nyungwe forest for the trekking in search chimpanzees and Angolan Colobus monkeys. Nyungwe is a vast, uncontaminated mountain rain tropical forest over 1000 sq km in size and you will be amazed by such intense, green mountain vegetation. It is home to 13 species of primates, over 275 species of birds, 100 varieties of orchids. Ensure you carry with you packed lunch and water.

Day 14: Kigali and the culture of Rwanda
After breakfast you will drive to Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, have a brief stopover in Gikongoro for a tour of the Genocide Memorial of Murambi. You will also visit Butare, where you can find the best Rwandan, original handicraft, which you cannot find in other countries of Africa. Butare hosts the biggest university and the national cultural museum, worth visiting. Stop over in Nyanza for a tour of the royal palace of the traditional king of Rwanda, the Mwami.

Meals included: Breakfast and lunch

Day 15: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to connect with your international flight out.
