Gorilla safari and chimps itinerary:

Day 1: Drive Kibale Forest national Park
Depart from Kampala or Entebbe and drive to Kibale Forest 358km from the capital city. You will leave the city early in the morning and drive west through Mityana and proceed for a lunch break in the beautiful town of Fort Portal.  Marvel at the stunning palace of Toro Kingdom, the Royal tombs, the numerous shops and the mosque before driving on to Kibale, only a couple of kilometers ahead.

On arrival, you will check into your Lodge. Actually, Kibale national park hosts the highest number of primates in the whole of East Africa including chimpanzees, baboons, black & white colobus monkeys and the blue monkey. Have a Bigodi swamp walk in the afternoon. Head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 2: Chimp Tracking day in Uganda
Following an early breakfast, set out chimp tracking close to Kanyanchu. This may take half f the day. You will several primates in this region such as L’Hoest monkeys, baboons, blue monkeys, white & black colobus monkeys, the grey checked mangabey, pottos and red colobus. Other animals include forest elephants which are a common type, large forest hogs as well as several tree species. Head back to your accommodation for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive to Bwindi impenetrable national park via Ishasha
Following breakfast, drive to the renowned mountain gorillas sanctuary the Bwindi impenetrable forest. This very lengthy drive is fortunately very scenic as you head to southwest Uganda. Mountain Rwenzori is the most dominant feature on the way and it is the highest peak in Uganda, yet the third highest in the whole of Africa after Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya.
 
You will finally arrive in Bwindi forest late in the evening. Bwindi forest is home to the surviving endangered mountain gorillas remaining in the world. Overnight at the Engagi Lodge

Day 4: Go Mountain gorilla tracking
After an early breakfast, go to the headquarters of the park with a packed lunch and drinking water where you will be briefed about the mountain gorilla tracking in the impenetrable forests. You will be allowed to spend an hour in the presence of the gorillas.
 
After trekking gorillas in case you still have some energy you will have a cultural experience with the Batwa community. You will see several souvenir shops, schools, churches and drinking joints. Other option includes taking the Munyanja river trail, to see the stunning waterfalls plus the great profusion of birdlife. Dinner and overnight Engagi Lodge

Day 5: Back to Kampala
After an early breakfast, you will return to Kampala where you will arrive in the late evening.
